STEEP RISE, CITY OF ROOMS 2018 exhibition at Giorgio de Chirico, Volos
Steep Rise is a network of accommodation for students in the city of Volos that takes place in the redundant building stock of the city. In our effort to provide as many rooms as possible we have concentrated the accommodation on two floors, eliminating the horizontal flow movement, and replacing it with vertical movement in the form of spiral staircases running through the building. The dense private floors are alternated with open-plan public spaces which accommodate a variety of activities. On the roofs of the buildings, we have created gardens and elevated gazebos for relaxation and recreation. The model was part of a course in Architectural Design: City Of Rooms, and exhibited in Giorgio de Chirico Exhibitional Space in Volos.
