This thesis was preceded by extensive research and admiration for mental and physical wandering. An object was designed and created based on the latter two aspects. MODPACK (modular pack) is a biodegradable backpack for urban and rural usage. It consists of the PACK (the main body) and the five separate MODs (detachable modules) that are linked to it providing the conditions for each use. The backpack may be fastened around the waist with the belt mod, used as a resting-floor with the seat mod, and each component has additional uses with the clipping strap mod.

The use of cork and natural hemp-fiber derivatives as the primary materials makes Modpack waterproof. The use of materials and design principles were taken actively into consideration. MODPACK is a product that gazes into the future with moral responsibility towards society and Planet Earth.

πορτοκαλιwanderlust.png

WanderLust is a portable game whose purpose is to provide an experiential experience through wandering, a method of urban exploration. The player’s trace is like a form of automatic writing in the reality realm. Besides being a tool for new visitors to experience the city, it can also provide the permanent resident with a fresh angle of their, so far, finite everyday living. It is a means through which one can be introduced to the act of wandering.

Materials used: marine plywood, cotton, metal zipper, nails

Acquired skillswoodcutting, bag design, use of router, mechanical connections, game design, and rules deployment

Bike Stool 2014

Object reformation / reuse. Made with rusty steel pipes, an old steel bike handlebar, saddle, and wheel framing. The handlebar is welded with the saddle creating a rotating seat. This object was created on a course where we had to choose an object through an experiential process and then create another object based on the initial, providing a new use.

Acquired skills: welding, use of angle grinder, metal drilling, use of clamps
